Under the bright lights of a packed Madison Square Garden, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano met for the third time in what has become one of boxing’s most celebrated rivalries. Once again, it was Taylor who walked away victorious—this time by majority decision—improving her head-to-head record to 3-0 against Serrano.

The fight began cautiously, with both women showing respect for each other’s power. The opening round featured minimal action, and some observers may have scored it even. Unlike their previous battles, Serrano didn’t press the pace as aggressively, possibly wary of clashing heads or Taylor’s counter shots. Taylor, the reigning undisputed super lightweight champ, also appeared measured in her approach, keeping distance and picking her moments.

Though both had their flashes—Taylor with a burst of power mid-fight, and Serrano responding with combinations—it wasn’t enough to sway the judges in Serrano’s favor. In the end, accuracy made the difference.

According to Compubox, both fighters landed 70 punches. But while Serrano threw 382 shots, Taylor was far more efficient, needing just 231 attempts to match her opponent’s output. Taylor’s precision and composure proved decisive in another tightly contested bout between two of the sport’s best.

At A Crossroad of Possibilities

Following Katie Taylor’s third win over Amanda Serrano, both fighters now stand at pivotal crossroads in their storied careers. At 38 and 35 respectively, Taylor and Serrano remain among the most decorated and respected names in women’s boxing—but their next moves could define how they are remembered in the sport’s history books.

Katie Taylor (25-1) has little left to prove. She’s a two-weight undisputed champion, an Olympic gold medalist, and the face of women’s boxing in Ireland. Her third win over Serrano cements her dominance in one of the most competitive rivalries in modern women’s boxing. Still, the looming question is – does she retire at the top or continue to fight? The decision now rests on whether Taylor prioritizes legacy, money, national pride—or a combination of the three.

Amanda Serrano (47-4-1), already a seven-weight world champion and Puerto Rican boxing icon, finds herself at a crossroads as well. Despite being 0-3 against Taylor, her résumé remains unmatched in terms of versatility and longevity.
