Isaac Cruz held onto his WBC interim light welterweight belt following a disputed majority draw with Lamont Roach on Saturday night in San Antonio, Texas.

Cruz struck early, flooring Roach in the third round with a powerful left hook that marked the first knockdown of Roach’s professional career. However, the momentum shifted as the fight progressed. Roach adjusted, found Cruz’s rhythm, and controlled much of the action over the latter half of the contest with cleaner, more consistent boxing.

As frustration mounted, Cruz relied increasingly on rough tactics, which resulted in a point deduction in the seventh round for a low blow. That penalty effectively erased the advantage he gained from the earlier knockdown. Over 12 rounds at Frost Bank Center, Roach outlanded Cruz by a notable margin, connecting on 191 punches to Cruz’s 159.

Cruz attempted to rally in the closing rounds, but Roach’s composure and technical edge appeared to carry the stretch run. The judges, however, were split: two scored the bout 113-113, while a third awarded Cruz a 115-111 verdict, resulting in a majority draw.

The outcome marked Roach’s second majority draw of the year, following his high-profile stalemate with Gervonta Davis in March.

Foster Claims Interim Title Earlier on the Card

In the co-feature, O’Shaquie Foster turned in a dominant performance against Stephen Fulton to capture the WBC interim lightweight title by majority decision. Originally slated as a defense of Foster’s super featherweight championship, the bout was reclassified after Fulton missed weight by two pounds.

Foster controlled the fight from start to finish, earning wide scores of 117-111, 118-110, and 119-109. With the victory, Foster positioned himself as the mandatory challenger for the winner of the upcoming clash between WBO light welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson, scheduled for January 31, 2026.
